What is the process of working with me like?

So you’re curious about what it would be like to work with me. I’ll provide a general description of how I like to do things so you can see if we might mesh well. Basically it entails an assessment of what needs to be done, me providing you with a quote for the work, performing the work, ensuring you are happy with the work and billing and payment.

Through all of the above, I am your one and only contact. There are upsides to this approach, the main one being that I believe the trees tend to get better care. There’s no telephone game, I take all of your unique requests and guidance and ensure that it all gets translated into the final product. There are also some downsides, mainly that I can get pretty busy handling everything. I probably won’t answer the phone every time you call but I promise that if you leave me a message I’ll return it as soon as possible, typically within 48 hours.

Assessment The first step is getting an idea of what needs to be done. I always like to meet prospective clients if possible but if you’re busy it’s not absolutely necessary. We’ll talk about your trees and shrubs, what value they hold for you, what functions they serve, what you would like to see done in terms of their care. I’ll factor all of this in and balance it against what I believe to be best for your trees and shrubs to create recommendations for care. If you are unable to meet, the more of these types of details you can provide in your messages the better.

Quote Next, I’ll match my recommendations for care with pricing and send you a quote, typically via email. I’m going to provide you with what I believe is the best recommendation for care. However, I am open to making adjustments to scope and corresponding price to meet your needs. Quotes are also itemized tree by tree, or in some cases groups of plants. We can do as much or as little of the work as you would like, we can plan multiple visits, whatever works best for you.

Work Once you’ve decided to work with me, we’ll plan a date to do the work. Be prepared to wait at least a month, often longer, to have your work done. I promise good communication in case of delays due to weather or other factors and will work with you to get your work complete as close as possible to our original date. Again, I do all of the work myself. My watch words are safety, quality and cleanliness. I work carefully, in an intentional manner, to be sure that you and your trees get the best care I can give and your place is left looking better than when I arrived. When the work is complete I’ll take time to review what was done and ensure that you are happy.

Payment Now for the real business. I accept cash, check and credit/debit card payment. I offer a 10% discount for cash payment, if you’d like to pay in cash please be prepared to pay the day the work is completed. Otherwise, I will send you an invoice via email and you can pay at your convenience.
